Manufacturing technology in 2D and 3D
Since its introduction, laser welding has established itself as a precise and flexible method in manufacturing technology. The complexity of problems faced is constantly increasing - as for instance in the automotive industry, where complex body parts are being increasingly welded in three dimensions. The Laser Center optimises the necessary processes in order to make them more efficient for industrial use.
Additionally, lasers are also used in coating and shaping. Using laser-assisted alloying and build-up welding, tools and parts can be made more durable, worn-out areas repaired, and prototypes produced in the shortest time.
Laser beam diagnostics
One of the substantial basics for the permanent assurance of constant manufacturing quality and high laser device availability is the stability of laser beam parameters. It is the slow gradual change of these laser beam parameters, which leads to losses in manufacturing quality and and process speed. Monitoring of laser radiation begins in the simplest case with the measurement of the laser beam power and beam size. These two parameters determine the result of the manufacturing process in a fundamental way.
